In the fall of 2000, I found an El Camino in the camera ads. I was 14 at the time.  We went to look at the car a day or two later, and I fell in love with it.  It needed a little bit of work.  There was a dent in the front driver's side fender and it was in desperate need of a paint job.  My parents told me if I got it ready before my birthday, February 19th, then they would have it painted.  I spent almost everyday getting my car ready for paint.  I stayed out in the backyard until 11pm, sometimes later.  I finally finished prepping my car for paint.  By my birthday the car was painted white and the dent in the fender was repaired.  Over the next year I spent many days doing little things to my car and getting it ready for the day I turned 16.  I drove my car for about two years before anything major was done.  We had a set of black "SS" stripes painted on the hood.  The motor was starting to get tired so I decided it was time for a rebuild.  I started gathering parts to rebuild the engine.  It turned out great!  After some minor tweaking, it ran perfect!  I continued to drive my car every day, to and from work and everywhere i needed to go, even in the fog.  When I was 19, I left home and enlisted in the US Coast Guard.  I left my car with my parents.  They decided to pull a little prank on me while i was in boot camp.  They replaced the grill and front bumper.  While they had the face of my car torn apart they took some pictures and sent them to me along with a story saying they had been in an accident with my car.  I found out that wasn't the case when i got home from boot camp. My car has been in the care of my parents for almost the last three years.  They have continued work on my car.  They recently put on an "SS" hood and a new rear bumper.  My mom has recently taken a liking to my car and has claimed it as hers.  Very funny.  They have taken care of my car very well while I've been away.  They still take it to shows and take it out to play every once in a while.
